Remember that Serial withdrawal I talked about? This’ll help.
I’ll put this out there right away: this a book FULL of unsympathetic characters. I felt invested in the story and the mystery of it all, but I really, really disliked most of the characters. They’re all kind of terrible people to whom terrible things happen.
It was a quick read for sure, though I was so happy to have more time for non-work reading that the speed might have had something to do with that newfound freedom. I really did enjoy it- more than once this week, I found myself foregoing my morning crossword puzzle in order to fit in more reading time on the metro. (Takes me back to a lesson learned long ago: fit it in whenever you can!)
This a short review, probably to no one’s disappointment- this book was pure enjoyment. Sure, there are lessons to be learned, but they mainly revolve around not murdering people or cheating on anyone…still a good reminder.
You’ll like this if: you’re looking for a quick mystery read…and don’t care that you don’t really want anything to turn out well for anyone in the book.
Happy reading!
